Permanent Partial or Total Disability Benefits

If you were injured at work and you don't heal completely, you may qualify for permanent disability benefits from your employer's workers' compensation insurance carrier. To be eligible,  by the time your doctor says you have reached "maximal medical improvement," your injury must continue to affect your ability to participate in the job market. How much you’ll receive in permanent benefits varies by state, but it's  usually  based on the part of your body that is injured, your age, your occupation, and the permanent work restrictions set by your doctor.
