I had to have one leg and one arm amputated after an accident. I used to work in construction, and now I obviously can’t do that because of my amputee status. I’m not sure what I am going to do, but I am in a lot of pain right now and still trying to figure out how to exist without my leg and arm. Can I get disability benefits for my amputation injury to give me some income to support myself while I recover and figure out what to do?

Answer:
You may be eligible for long-term disability benefits from the Social Security Administration as a result of your disability. The SSA will look at the severity of your disability and whether it is able to preclude you from working for one year or more. In addition to benefit, the SSA may also provide you with assistance and retraining in learning how to find a job you can do with your disability, through the Ticket to Work Program. You should contact an experienced disability attorney who can help you determine the benefits you may be entitled to and who can help you apply for disability benefits from the SSA as a result of your amputation injury.
Talk to a Disability Attorney to get help with making a case for long-term social security disability compensation.
