Question:

Is there any way to speed up the SSDI approval process?

Answer:

In most cases, application process for Social Security Disability will take about 3 to 5 months. If denied, you may apply for reconsideration. Reconsideration will allow you to resubmit new supporting documents that you were not able to submit during your initial application. Take note that there are some states that remove the reconsideration step for initially denied application; those that were denied should go to the Social Security Disability Hearing process. These states are Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania.

A Social Security Administrative Law Judge will hear your case, and it might take up to 2 years just to get a hearing date. After the hearing, the judge will issue the decision in about 1 to 3 months. The decision will be mailed to your residence, and it may take another 3 months before you start receiving your benefits.

The fastest way to assure SSDI approval process is to make sure that you have prepared all the paperwork and included the necessary evidence. If you are having trouble with the paperwork preparation, consult a disability lawyer. A disability lawyer can guide you through the SSDI approval process. A properly prepared form will help you get favorable decision on the first application.
