California short term disability coverage provides replacement of wages for individuals who are suffering from a temporary disability, or who have not yet been declared permanently disabled. To be eligible, the person must establish facts of the disability and loss that as defined by the governing agency.
California Short Term Disability Benefits
If short term disability coverage is offered from your employer, you must work for a specified length of time (called a service wait) prior to becoming eligible for benefits. For professional or association short term disability coverage, you must be a member of the group for an established period of time. Individuals can purchase policies directly from an insurance company or brokerage. Individual policies are generally available if you have not had medical treatment for a potentially disabling condition during the previous ten years. Medical treatment may include, but is not limited to prescription medication and physician consultation for purposes of determining eligibility.
