if you have a blood disorder disability, you may wonder if this makes you eligible for social security disability insurance (SSDI) benefits. The answer will depend on the nature of your disorder and on how much of an impact that disorder has on your life.
There are two basic requirements to qualify for SSDI:
If you believe you qualify based on those two above principles, then the key will be to determine if your blood disorder is listed in the social security administrations "blue book" of impairments. This is essentially a list of those disorders, illnesses or injuries that the SSA has determined are severe enough that those who are afflicted with them cannot work. If your disability is listed within this list, then qualifying for benefits is as easy as submitting proof that you have that given disorder. If your blood disorder is not listed in this book, then you will have to do a little more work but you can still qualify. To qualify for a disorder that is not listed, you'll have to show your blood disorder is as severe and as impairing as those on the list.
To get help proving that your blood disorder entitles you to benefits, or for other assistance making a claim with the SSA, you should strongly consider speaking with a lawyer.
