The Social Security administration estimates that a disability application can take approximately three to five months to be processed. Some of the best ways to speed up the process are to prepare yourself for your interview, and have the Social Security Medical and Job Worksheet, Form SSA-3381 completed and brought along at the time of the interview.
Another way to get a faster decision is to provide Social Security with the information it needs to consider your claim. This typically includes the date and place of your birth, your Social Security number, your bank account number and your bank’s routing number (if you want your benefits to be direct-deposited each month), your total earnings both last year and this year, the name and address of your employer (both last year and this year), beginning and end dates of active military service prior to 1968, and your most current Social Security Statement. You will also need to provide information about your current or former spouse, including name, date of birth, Social Security number, date and place of marriage, and date of divorce or death.
To make a determination on your application, Social Security will also need copies of all your medical records, detailed information about your illness, disability, and work history, and information about any workers’ compensation claims you made or plan to make.
Talk to a Social Security Disability Lawyer to get help getting your claim approved quickly.
Good luck.
