Recovery Disability Rider

Individuals who have a private disability insurance plan may have a recovery disability rider. This is a rider to an insurance policy in which there are reduced benefits applied when an insured individual returns to work after a period of time that was compensable of total disability. Individuals often return to work after a period of disability. The amount of time it takes for that individual to return to work has a basis on numerous factors, including their recovery time. However, private insurance companies, and the Social Security Administration, regularly screen applications and recipients of disability benefits to determine if their condition has improved enough to allow them to return to work.
