Medicaid is a type of health program for some individuals in the United States. This program is for those individuals and families that have a low income and resources. Some people with disabilities also qualify for Medicaid. Each state administers its own Medicaid program, though the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, monitor the entire program. Not all states must participate in the program, though all states do currently. Both states and the federal government fund Medicaid to individuals who qualify.
