Disability Insurance

There is more than one form of disability insurance. With one form of this insurance, your income is insured should you become disabled and rendered unable to work. Most of the time, the disability insurance policies that one is able to purchase at their place of employment will offer both short and long term disability insurance benefits. Sometimes, an upgraded policy is available should someone want to spend the money to have this extra coverage. Another type of disability insurance is that supplied by the United States government. These are Social Security Disability insurance and Supplemental Security Income. Many people get hurt on the job, so a disability insurance known as Worker's Compensation was developed to be used in the workplace. Veteran's benefits are also considered to be a form of disability insurance, as they are somewhat similar to Worker's Compensation. Disability insurance varies in what types of disabilities are covered, and the length of time the coverage lasts.
